News: Billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller's family office pumps a combined $430 million into Nvidia and Microsoft stocks in big, bold AI bets
Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller's family office has demonstrated a strong interest in artificial intelligence-related stocks by increasing their holdings in Nvidia and making a new investment in Microsoft.
According to a 13F filing on Monday, Druckenmiller's Duquesne Family Office purchased 791,475 shares of Nvidia, amounting to approximately $220 million. This investment significantly boosted their existing stake in the chipmaker, which previously consisted of 582,915 shares valued at $85.1 million at the end of 2022.
In addition, Duquesne made a new investment in Microsoft during the first quarter, acquiring 729,040 shares worth $210 million.
Both Nvidia and Microsoft have been prominent players in the AI field this year. Nvidia has earned recognition as a leading enabler of AI through its silicon technology. On the other hand, Microsoft has generated considerable excitement in the AI community with its $10 billion investment in OpenAI, the organization responsible for the widely popular ChatGPT language model.
The remarkable growth of the AI industry has propelled the share prices of these tech giants. Nvidia shares have surged by 98% this year, while Microsoft stock has experienced a 30% increase.
Druckenmiller himself recently spoke about the transformative potential of artificial intelligence during the 2023 Sohn Investment Conference, emphasizing its significance as a game-changing technology.
He stated, "AI is undeniably real and has the potential to be as influential as the internet."
