News: Instagram planning to release text-based app to rival Twitter

Instagram, owned by Meta, is reportedly developing a new app that will directly compete with Twitter, potentially posing a challenge to the popular social media platform.

According to sources, Instagram is in the process of testing this text-based app with celebrities and influencers. The project has been kept under wraps and has only been available to a select group of creators for several months.

Bloomberg reported that the upcoming Instagram app is scheduled for launch in the summer.

Currently, Instagram primarily focuses on photo and video sharing, along with its "stories" feature. The platform also offers an in-app messaging feature that enables users to privately exchange text, photos, posts, and stories with others.
